The 10 Plagues of Egypt- Darkness
Sunday School Lesson
(With lot's of stuff to go with it)
Exodus 10:21-And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.
For Children's Church just print off a lesson for each child so they can follow along and take home with them so their parents can see what they have learned. If you are not able to print a paper off for each child then you can print just one and read it to them.
You can have them make their Darkness man recipe during children church or you can make them ahead of time. The recipe can be a hands on craft during class if you don't have time for one of the other crafts.
I usually use the marker board that I have in my room to draw while I am teaching the lesson. I draw the little stick figure people out. Kids really pay attention when you draw on the board. Not sure why that holds their attention, but it does. Then I let them make their craft and then I give them a snack. You can give them a coloring page if they all get finished early.
We do the drink disciple and food disciple every Sunday as well. We always pick a two children to help hand out snacks and drinks. Sometime we do pick a number between 1-20 and I tell my husband ahead of time what the number is. When the kids go around the room and tell me what their number is, the closest one gets to be the food or drink disciple. They love this! We have also been singing the Ten Plagues of Egypt song every time during class so they remember what the plagues are. It is sung to the tune of This Old Man. I found this on the Kids Sunday School Place Website. I suggest printing this off and using it.
I actually printed off clipart pictures of each plague and had them laminated and when we sing the song I hold the picture up for them to see. When I printed the picture out for each plague I actually went into my printing section and changed the printing from being on just one sheet of paper to being on 4. This blows the picture up huge. I then taped the back of the four sheets together and had them laminated. We have had so much fun learning that song. If you need clipart pictures of the plagues we have those. You can also just print one picture out, that we have all the plagues on, if you don't want to laminate each one.
(print and cut out and tape to a toothpick and stick down in cupcake. You can also tape them to cups and fill with snacks, or drinks. Or you can stick them down in sandwiches.
